Exhaust System
The standard exhaust pipe is thin and short, it does its job but if you need to replace or extend to get the exhaust gases to a suitable place, here are some options. The longest overall length that is recommended for the exhaust is 200cm.
A standard replacement exhaust pipe, with options from 60cm to 3m;
60cm – £7.89
100cm – £8.29
120cm – £8.49
150cm – £8.99
200cm – £9.49
250cm -£10.49
300cm – £11.99
A upgraded version, dual layer is also available;
If your heater is not fitted to a vehicle, for example a building, and theres a possibility that it may be touched, accidently, or not, then it is recommended to use some exhaust heat wrap. If fitted to a vehicle and the exhaust is underneath there is really no need.
When installing, ensure you wear gloves and wrap it tightly.
When being fitted in a tight space, these can be a life saver.
These are a budget option
For a genuine Eberspacher stainless version:
The genuine part number is;

The standard clamps that come with most units a pretty useless.
Here there is an option of full or part stainless and various sizes.

25-27mm for corrugated type exhaust
If you need a replacement or want a slight larger silencer, there are 3 sizes here
Or if your feeling fancy, a genuine Eberspacher unit here
The Genuine part number is;

If you install is in a boat then you will need a hull fitting.
Or if your completely mental and are using a all in one unit inside, this could be used to connect the exhaust through a wall
For a gas tight marine application;
Fuel System
Most heaters come with a standard ‘green’ flexible fuel line. It degrades quickly and will leak. The ultimate option here is to use nylon pipe with rubber joiners.
Correct size to use is 2.5mm internal diameter for the nylon pipe.
For a standard replacement pump this suits needs.
Most pumps dose 0.022ml per cycle, ensure you check your current unit and match it up.
Sometimes the pumps just have a ’22’ on them to indicate this.
Alternative option to above is a unit with a built filter.
The standard inline filters are just a filter and have no particular mounting they just hang in situ.
These can be easily mounted and any water that makes its way into the filter can be drained away.
A slightly more heavy duty version is available
Fuel tank size can be down to space and preference but there are plenty of options to choose from, sizes & material.
When fitting the fuel tank, the plastic versions come with a nipple that needs to be drilled and installed. They are prone to leaking if not done correctly, alternatively, a standpipe can be fitted to the top eliminating leaks
Most kits come with the nylon fuel pipe as a bonus
Slightly different version here depending on the type of tank used.
If you are planning to tap into your fuel tank for a vehicle install, there are a few ways – one would be to use this kit and pipe straight in above the fuel tank sender unit.
A couple of examples below; a little more complex, but certainly worth the effort and saves having a separate fuel tank.
Second option would be to tap into the existing fuel line using this kit, its not suitable for all types of vehicle fuel lines, so ensure it will suit. Ensure that it is done on the return line if the fuel system has an intake pump,
These adaptors are suitable for a Renault Traffic, Vauxhall Vivaro and Nissan Primastar, although many manufactures use these quick connectors.
Again, ensure you connect to the return side of the fuel system.
For a Ford Transit Custom (mk7 or 8), the fuel tank sender unit has an auxiliary unused port. This can be tapped into with this kit. Cut of the top of the port, insert the standpipe, and clip on the adaptor. Then attach your fuel pipe.
An inline mechanical fuel cut off switch can also be fitted for safety purpose, will allow you to quickly cut off the fuel in an emergency.
Turrets, boxes & brackets
For a standard replacement mount plate, this is the one that comes with most units.
If you are fitting a unit in a box or through the floor of a vehicle that is not flat, or has insulation, you will need a turret plate.
The two main standard sizes are 40mm or 60mm which measures the depth – you should take into account the vehicle floor, insulation and floor lining before deciding on a size.
60mm option here.
No reason why a deeper one would suit thinner floors as well.
For a general universal mount, there are four options here;
If you have VW T5 / T6, specific kits are available to mount.
The plate is manufactured from high quality Stainless Steel which gives complete corrosion resistance.
Fixing kit all A4 stainless :- 2 x M6 Rivet nut , 2 x M6 x 20 Hex head bolt, 2 x M6 Spring washer and 2 x M6 penny washer
Thick material is used to ensure a sturdy, strong and secure installation
If you are looking to protect your heater to help prolong its life this quality box is to house a heater under the chassis of a camper van is perfect. There is a budget version or a stainless version. They can be clamped to the floor or you could make a ‘L’ bracket to suit.
Ducting & Vents
Heater / recirc inlet 75mm ducting adaptor (5KW)
Adapter for 5kw (2kw – 8kw) Diesel Heater units, This allows connecting of 75mm Ducting (normally supplied for outlet only) to the inlet side of the heater unit without removing the inlet screw cap. The inlet screw cap acts as a debris screen and also holds the lid on the unit and should remain in place on all setups.
Adding ducting to the inlet side is ideal for recirculating room air through the heater unit (most efficient way of heating) when the unit is located outside.
Heater / recirc inlet 75mm ducting adaptor (5KW) maXpeedingrods
Same as above, but for maXpeeding rods version
75mm Ducting & accessories (For 5KW)
With ducting, the chances are you may need more. There is the standard black ducting that comes with most units or the silver version available that tends to be a bit more durable and heat resistant.
The black ducting is considerably cheaper than the silver type.
Various vents are available;
Internal Spare Parts
Control Panels & Remotes
LED voltage display.
I use one next to my controller, wired in at the same point the heater wiring connects to its power source.
It just serves as a quick reference for the current voltage, can help diagnose any issues.
Slightly fancier version for a few more pounds
(wires on these are a bit thicker too, which is easier to work with)
